When a chemical factory faced the challenge of replacing its aging piping system, KPS emerged as the ideal partner. Recommended by the main contractor—a loyal KPS customer—the factory owners chose to tackle their pressing issues of corrosion and leakage with KPS piping.

The Challenge and the KPS Solution

The customer required a system capable of safely handling aggressive chemical fluids, such as Sodium Hypochlorite and Sodium Hydroxide (Caustic Soda), while ensuring zero risk of permeation. Additionally, they needed a solution that offered easy installation, a leak-free environment, and corrosion resistance, all with minimal maintenance requirements.

For this project, KPS provided 2” (63 mm) and 3” (90 mm) single-wall conductive piping and electrofusion fittings, specifically engineered to handle aggressive fluids. KPS piping includes an EVOH permeation barrier, ensuring a leak-free and corrosion-resistant system that delivers both durability and reliability. Designed for quick and efficient installation, the conductive pipes minimized downtime and operational disruption.

Thanks to meticulous planning and the simplicity of KPS’s compact electrofusion fittings, the entire project was completed in just three days. The factory experienced minimal downtime—only a few hours—allowing operations to resume swiftly. The customer now benefits from a piping system backed by a 15-year warranty, requiring significantly less maintenance than their previous setup.

With this new system in place, the factory has eliminated the recurring need to halt operations for repairs every couple of years. The efficiency of their chemical processing has significantly improved, ensuring a reliable and long-term solution for their operations.

This project highlights KPS’s ability to go beyond the forecourt, delivering innovative and dependable solutions for both fuel and chemical applications. To learn more about where KPS piping is being installed beyond forecourts, please visit the KPS website.
